About the Author
I'm Nick, an engineer and leader with over a decade of experience in system design and leadership. In the past, I've worked in high-performance computing, compute graphics, explored AI applications in Oil & Gas, and built engineering teams from the ground up. I currently lead multiple engineering teams and dedicate my spare time to my family, fitness, and personal projects.
My work spans Oil & Gas, Mobile App Development, Productivity, Finance and Insurtech, where I've contributed both as an engineer and a leader. I hold Electrical Engineering and Computer Science degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Houston.
I created this site to document insights, continue learning, teaching, coaching, and share the projects I've built or building. Each article is wholly based on a question, situation, decision, or problem I faced in my career and I write about the challenge so that I always have a place to return to, and to help others who may face a similar situation.
Productivity and Development Stack
as of Mar 2025Here's a look at the tools and languages I use daily.
ChatGPT, Gemini & Grammarly
ChatGPT for deep research & Gemini because I want multiple options. Grammarly polishes it all helping with clarity and tone.
Canva & Figma
Canva for designs. Figma for prototyping and UI/UX.
Cursor IDE
10x my development speed. I've used Copilot as well, its nice.
Python, Rust & Go with React & Next.js
I generally default to these languages for experiments depending on the need of the project. In the past I have written in C, C++, C+, Java and Scala.
Knowledge Management and Note-taking
Notion - For second-brain capture, project planning, and documentation.
DevOps & Infra Tooling
GCP & AWS – I build on both clouds depending on product fit and performance. Terraform - For infrastructure as code.
